Our latest Vizionary is the one and only @Kasierose_, Kasie Rosario! We have had the pleasure of working with Kasie on several campaigns over the years. She is passionate about creating authentic, high-quality content for her followers. We are so excited to share her journey and her take on the industry! Learn more about Kasie below and make sure to give her a follow on Instagram!
I’ve always had that little spark of creativity since I was a young girl, but once I got to high school I had such a love for taking and editing photos (we are talking about MySpace days here LOL.) I used to create my own mini photoshoots at home with my sister or create random videos/family vlogs and had so much fun coming up with concepts and edits. I was always super into social media and once Instagram came along; I became obsessed with it! An app where you can post photos AND edit them? Sign me up! As the years went on, I started to see the Influencer business skyrocket and I always felt like I wanted to be a part of it. I would get questions about my clothes or my curly hair all the time so I decided to try and take it a little more seriously to see what could happen! I love helping & being of service to others and if I can do that by giving women some hair, makeup, or fashion tips then that makes me happy!
My overall inspiration for my posts is realist meets a little curated. I think the pandemic has really changed the way a lot of influencers approach content. Since the entire world has been on lockdown, I have seen such a shift in photo trends this past year with creators fluctuating between more in the moment/natural-looking iPhone photos mixed with some curation. I like to dabble in both. Lately, I tend to find myself shooting with an iPhone but I love the quality of a DSLR and am trying to get back into that as well. I just enjoy sharing my genuine likes and dislikes with my followers... whether I’m talking about my favorite type of non-dairy milk, eyeliners, or curly hair creams, I want my audience to see me as their friend and as someone they can trust and relate to. I want to stay true to myself no matter what.
The biggest lesson that I have learned is that you HAVE to be your own biggest cheerleader. There may be people around you who do not understand this world of social media or may even make fun of you for investing so much time & energy into it…but you cannot listen to the naysayers! Do something because YOU genuinely love it, not because you are waiting for validation from others. Stay true to yourself, always. Oh, and one huge important lesson is that It’s okay to take a break. Trying to be “ON” all the time can become exhausting... it’s okay to rest…your true followers will understand.
My favorite part of being a content creator is bonding with my online community. I enjoy chatting in the DM’s/comments and love it when a follower contacts me for advice on a product or tells me that they took one of my recommendations and it helped them out. I also enjoy collaborating with some of my favorite brands! It’s always such an awesome feeling when I get to work with the team behind some of the products that I use in my daily life. I am very adamant about working with brands/products that I would truly recommend to a close friend or family member. It’s super important to me!
Wow, there are SO many content creators who inspire me, it’s really hard to choose one. I follow some amazing folks & each are unique in their own way…but if I can pick a few off the top of my head I would say @melanycecilia, @highlowluxxe, @monroesteele, @paytonsartain, @lissettecalv – These ladies are GO-GETTERS! I appreciate their realness and their content is just *chefs kiss*
I wish people knew that the world of content creation is way more than just posting a pretty picture. There is a lot of work behind the scenes and trying to build a loyal community is no easy feat! I think the term “influencer” has such a negative connotation to it due to some bad apples here and there. Most influencers are hard workers and are running the show all by themselves. There are A LOT of hats to wear. Influencer marketing is a real industry and it most definitely is a real job.
I see myself continuing to grow my personal brand, my audience, and branching out to other platforms as well. The industry is constantly evolving & now more than ever I see the importance of staying up to date with the changes! I see video becoming the huge focus on social media and it’s an area I am working to get better at.
The best piece of advice I can give to people who want to build their own social media brand is to just GET STARTED NOW. There will never be a “perfect” time. Start posting your pictures or videos. If you love cars… post about cars, if you love gardening…post about gardening, If you love poetry…(you get the picture.) There is an audience for everyone, and your people will find you. Be in it for the long game... if you’re doing it for free products or money you’ll get discouraged very quickly. Do it because you truly enjoy it, and the perks will follow. <3
